I follow with great interest and passion the developments within the IT industry. I clearly see how something that can be termed “super companies” is emerging on a global level.
Today, I want to mention three of them: Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft. These three companies have established extremely strong positions in the market. They have the potential to fully capitalize on the emerging business associated with the “new IT business” being driven by advancements in the entire AI field.
These three super companies have:
* a multitude of incredibly talented, intelligent, and ambitious people
* access to an almost unlimited amount of capital
* a global presence
* a scalable business
* a culture of speed and agility. This culture allows them to innovate rapidly, adapt to changing markets, and stay ahead of the competition
Given access to both market, talent, capital and a winning culture, these stars are becoming increasingly ambitious and potent in their efforts to create a “holistic” offering. You can already see how the three offer almost complete vertical integration on the theme of end-to-end.
So, where does that leave the rest of us?
Considering that all three of the mentioned super companies are American, it’s not surprising if we occasionally see representatives from the EU aspiring to create European alternatives. After working for several decades as partners to the best American IT companies, I find it very difficult to see Europe catching up, let alone surpassing…
