“Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself”

I am so impressed about the dignity with which the Finnish presidential election has been conducted.

In a world where so many seem uninterested in understanding their opponents, it is touching to see how Alexander Stubb leaves his victory celebration to go to his competitor and thank him for a well-run campaign.

I have had the privilege of meeting Alexander Stubb during his time at the EIB. I was genuinely impressed by how genuinely nice, talented, and humane person he appeared to be.

Let us all strive to become a little more “Finnish” in this regard.
